چکیده

Background Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) provides superior assessment of right ventricle (RV) function and assessment of multiple physiologic parameters with high interand intraobserver reproducibility thus providing a noninvasive assessment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) by evaluating RV physiologic parameters. CMR also provides a unique noninvasive assessment of myocardial fibrosis and quantitative evaluation of RV mass. Our goal was to evaluate the value of CMR to assess RV dysfunction in the setting of PAH using established physiologic parameter in combination with techniques unique to CMR, such as RV mass quantification and T1-mapping.

High-risk Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Mitral Valve Replacement in a HIV Positive Patient

Certain subsets of high-risk mitral valve patients are not suitable candidates for transcatheter therapies. The objective of this report is to present a young patient with combined mitral valve and coronary artery disease to illustrate these challenges. In this report, we present a 47-year-old man with longstanding HIV infection who was referred with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and profound...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Pulmonary artery distensibility in pulmonary arterial hypertension: an MRI pilot study.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a disease of the small vessels in which there is a substantial increase in pulmonary vascular resistance leading to right ventricle failure and death. Invasive haemodynamic evaluation is mandatory not only for diagnosis confirmation but also to address prognosis and eligibility for the use of calcium-channel blockers through an acute vasodilator challeng...

[Cardiovascular magnetic resonance evaluation of left-to-right shunts due to cardiac septal defects in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension].

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES As cardiac septal defects are frequently associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension, hemodynamic assessment is essential before deciding on surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging for assessing cardiac shunts and for quantifying pulmonary artery systolic pressure in patients with cardiac septal defects....

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Provides Non-Invasive Assessment of Pulmonary Hypertension Severity by Reduced Relative Area Change of the Pulmonary Artery

INTRODUCTION Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a disease of the distal pulmonary arteries that results in an elevation in pulmonary arterial resistance and pressure [1]. Currently, right heart catheterization is the gold standard for assesment of PAH. The relative cross sectional area change (RAC) of the main pulmonary artery may be a useful non-invasive measure of PAH severity [2]. Here...
